Templating visit
This is longer and more involved than a standard measure. We access the opening, remove enough trim to see the true frame line, cut a physical template, and record the orientation and the shape classification. Manufacture to template
The template goes to the manufacturer with the specification for glass, frame colour, and grid pattern. Shaped units take longer to build than rectangular ones, generally five to eight weeks, and elliptical and gothic shapes sit at the longer end. Every unit is checked against the original template on arrival before an installation date is set.
Installation and finish
Setting a shaped unit is careful, unhurried work. The unit is dry-fit, checked for even reveal, shimmed at the bearing points, then fastened, foamed, and sealed. A single shaped opening typically takes two to four hours including trim, longer where scaffolding is involved.
